Individuals concerned about pro bono legal practice and public interest law in the D.C. metropolitan area are strongly urged to become members of the Council. Council members represent every sector of the Washington legal community lawyers and legal assistants from large and small law firms, public interest groups, government agencies and congressional offices, as well as law students and members of law-related professions.

The Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all membership fees are tax deductible to the full extent permitted by law. Benefits of membership include:

• Access to the Public Interest Job Clearinghouse, a Washington area job listing publication to public interest employment opportunities.
• Member discounts on the Councils Public Service Directory, a catalog of public interest groups and legal services providers in the District of Columbia area.
• Newsletters featuring debates on public issues as well as information about Council activities.
• Member discounts on the Councils regularly sponsored luncheons featuring eminent speakers from the judiciary, Congress, the media and other professions.
• Opportunities to network with others who are engaged in public interest and pro bono law and opportunities to work on issues that are on the cutting edge of public interest law.
